I’ve had my 2008 Volvo for two years , I leased it for 3 years with US Bank. but I’m planning on traveling all of next year… Obviously there’s no point in me keeping the car in the garage for a year while paying for it… what do you guys recommend I do?

Sure, US Bank will let you end your lease early. . . . . as long as you pay the entire amount you owe which is a full year’s worth of payments.
Or you can do the following:
