Whether its a president or a spouse, at some point the honeymoon is over. Now a new poll purports to tell you when your head-over-heels love of a new car becomes yet another dull routine.
Women are over three-times more likely to stay in love longer with their car compared to men, reports a firm called LeaseTrader.com, which says its survey is based on about 2,500 responses. The honeymoon was over for women when they started letting their spouse drive their car (39%) and started to car pool other kids (24%) for the first time.
For men, the average was four months until they started parking close to other cars (33%) and began transporting sports equipment in the back seat (22%).
No surprise here: Those who lease a car fall out of love with it faster than those who buy.
"Generally drivers living a leasing lifestyle have a shorter honeymoon period with their car," said Sergio Stiberman, CEO of LeaseTrader.com. "Every Car Lease driver goes through this stage."
The honeymoon period is over for men when they:
* Park around other cars (33%)
* Start transporting sports equipment (22%)
* Clean their car less frequently (17%)
* Let high payments to start bothering them (12%)
* No longer fight over who drives during long trips (3%)
And for women, it comes when they:
* Let their spouse finally drive the car (39%)
* Start car-pooling other kids (24%)
* Start eating in car (12%)
* Begin putting on makeup on while driving (9%)
* Leave clothes in the car (6%)
* Start smoking in the car (2%)
