LeaseTrader.com, a popular car leasing marketplace, announces more women than men on the website under the age of 30 are now driving a luxury vehicle. Today, roughly 51.2 percent of women under 30 on LeaseTrader.com drive a luxury vehicle compared with 42.6 percent in 2005.
The announcement comes on the heels of findings that show women gaining or surpassing men in financial and academic areas. According to 2008 U.S. Census Bureau data analyzed by a New York research firm, women ages 22 to 30 now earn eight percent more than men in metro areas. The Council of Graduate Schools also released data recently showing women earning the majority of doctoral degrees(http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/20/education/20iht-educBriefs20.html) in the U.S.
LeaseTrader.com data shows most women luxury drivers under 30 today are in popular metro areas such as Chicago, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Boston, Charlotte, Phoenix, Atlanta and San Francisco. What's more, they're driving luxury vehicles such as the Audi TT, Audi A4, Infiniti G37, Lexis SC, BMW Z4 and Jaguar XK.
The shift in driving power has been progressing over the last few years on the LeaseTrader.com marketplace as more women take a greater interest in what they drive, said Sergio Stiberman, CEO and founder of LeaseTrader.com. Especially as it relates to education, young women commanding higher salaries are becoming a larger customer base in shopping and trading for luxury leases.
