Professional breakups
If you want to lessen your risk of getting divorced, stay away from performers, athletes and massage therapists.
And while you're at it, add telemarketers, waiters, baggage porters and roofers to the list.
These are just some of the jobs linked to an elevated risk of divorce, according to research out of Virginia's Radford University. Needless to say, if there's any truth to it, actress Eva Longoria and NBA star Tony Parker were doomed all along.
Longoria filed for divorce last week after allegedly discovering hundreds of texts from another woman on Parker's phone. The texting trail seemed a dealbreaker for the Desperate Housewives star.
A poll of members of the infamous infidelity website ashleymadison.com
-- which has more than 7 million members worldwide -- didn't turn up any pro athletes or politicians, but that's not saying much. After all, it's unlikely that those guys would need an online profile to snag some lovin' on the side.
Among the guys most commonly perusing the site for a rendezvous are physicians, police officers, lawyers, real estate agents and engineers.
"Careers that take you out of regular connection with your partner, whether it's extensive business travel or late nights, there's a higher likelihood you're going to stray," says Noel Biderman, founder of Ashley Madison.
Biderman adds that high-stress careers may provide a trigger for bed-hopping. Errr, Tiger Woods, anyone?
"Is it the kind of person that goes into this profession or the
profession itself?" Biderman asks. "I think it's both ... these jobs involve taking massive risks and they think they're made of Teflon."
According to Woods himself -- whose parade of sleazy affairs was revealed a year ago -- golf made him do it.
Recently, the father of two took to the page, writing for Newsweek magazine.
"Golf is a self-centered game, in ways good and bad. So much depends on one's own abilities," he wrote.
"But for me, that self-reliance made me think I could tackle the world by myself. It made me think that if I was successful in golf, then I was invincible."
Biderman believes that the god-like fantasy surrounding top-tier athletes, such as Woods and Parker, becomes a breeding ground for temptation.
"The whole world is at your feet ... there are groupies at every stop. It becomes a case of 'what else can I conquer?' "
Biderman says just about anyone -- with the exception of those working in religious sectors -- is capable of wandering through the cyberspace "door" and cheating.
"If you're on Facebook talking with a former lover, I guarantee your partner would feel betrayed by that and consider it cheating," he says.

Who's ditching their ride?
In 2008, male real-estate agents topped the list of those escaping car leases for financial reasons, at 68%.
Now, doctors are at the helm. MDs are the professionals most trying to get rid of the leases on their luxury vehicles, such as Maserati, Mercedes S Class and BMW 7 Series, according to LeaseTrader.com.
Meanwhile, lawyers rank second, followed by realtors, then financial execs and insurance brokers. Notice any similarities between downsizing pricey rides and affairs? (Ahem, physicians, lawyers and real estate agents made both lists!)
Cheating dames exposed
The professions of women that are most affiliated with cheating are teachers, stay-at-home moms, nurses, administrative assistants and real-estate agents, according to a study by AshleyMadison.com.
While these are almost entirely distinct from the male professions, this change could be due to several factors -- including a higher percentage of women working in these industries and non-traditional working hours.
